CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION: NOTES & TX PLANNING

Workshop Description: This 90-minute workshop is designed to help mental health professionals learn how to write efficient and effective session notes. We will review additional important considerations to clinical note writing, such as writing for potential subpoenas, how to document sensitive information, and what does not need to be included. The second half of this workshop will focus on collaborative treatment planning and how to write treatment plans. Attendees will receive a template for session notes and treatment plans (Word document or Google forms: both able to be edited).

Continuing Education: All workshops count for 1.5 CE credits for Texas LPC and LMFT.

Presenter Bio: Dr. Allen is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from The University of Texas at San Antonio. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a private practice in Austin, Texas. She is the founder of the LPC Associates of Texas, LLC, an organization dedicated to resources and advocacy for non-fully licensed counselors. Her research interests include strengths-based approaches to working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system and enhancing the school-to-work transition for novice counselors. Dr. Allen has worked in a variety mental health settings. Her clinical areas of interest include working with individuals experiencing high-conflict custody concerns, individuals with court mandated treatment requirements, adolescents, and general identity development.
