REALITY THERAPY ACROSS CONTEXTS

Workshop Description: This workshop is designed to help counselors and other mental health professionals utilize reality therapy across populations and contexts. Going beyond the introductory chapters of your theories textbook, we will explore how the key concepts of choice theory and reality therapy apply to case conceptualization, treatment planning, and intervention. Special attention will be given to using reality therapy to develop a culturally receptive therapeutic relationship that promotes movement toward client wellness goals. We will then walk through specific case examples for counseling adolescents, adults, and couples. Attendees will also receive access to handouts to assist with case conceptualization and intervention.

**All workshops are hosted via Zoom and are 90 minutes.

Continuing Education: All workshops count for 1.5 CE credits for Texas LPC and LMFT.

Presenter Bio: Quentin Hunter, PhD, LPCA, NCC is a board certified professional counselor working in private practice and an assistant professor in the School of Professional Counseling at Lindsey Wilson College. Quentin began practice as a professional counselor in 2015 and is certified in choice theory/reality therapy. His counseling experience includes work with individuals across the life span in hospital, community counseling, school, and private practice settings. He is president of the Kentucky Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, a past president of the Kentucky Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities, and associate editor for the International Journal for the Advancement of Counselling. Quentin has more than ten publications, including peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and edited books.
